Garcia doesn't carry enough power at Welter

Danny Garcia and Keith Thurman battle on Saturday night for arguably the Welterweight King spot at least until Brook faces off against Spence later this year. Some are even speculating as to wether the winners of each big fight might fight against each other and establish the true welterweight champion of the world. One welterweight who has recently gained a huge fight at welter against Manny Pacquiao had his own opinions on the fight and stated that "It will be a close fight on the cards but I believe Danny will edge it on points. He’s grown into the welterweight division and is a better boxer than he gets credit for,” he said. Garcia had received a lot of criticism for recent performances against Lamont Peterson and Herrera where he arguably could have lost either fight although he got the decision on the cards. It is debatable whether the Flat footed fighter has been able to use that stance and carry, prime for a "no look hook" and being up that power from super lightweight. One fight that really made people sit up and take note, was when he defeated Lucas Matthyse, a guy who was heralded and was projected and compared the the power of Manny Pacquiao. Danny Garcia showed a boxing master class that night and it is easy to see why this clash has many split. Keith Thurman is also a fantastic boxer and recently in a conference call with Stephen Espinoza Thurman answered when asked about the magnitude of the fight and why he wanted it he responded, I’m an undefeated champion and I’ve never lost. I feel strong. I have a strong amateur background. He does, too. This is my life. This is what I do. I love the challenge. I love the fight game. I love another man trying to get the best of me right in front of me, going toe-to-toe with me. I just live for it." Keith Thurman later during the build up to the fight also mocked Garcia's "no look hook", like the one that decimated Amir Khan and Erik Morales to propel Garcia into the upper echelons of one of the most historical weights in boxing. This fight like many made this year is just another example of how promoters are making the best match ups with the best fighting the best. As to the winner, personally I would go for Thurman, I just don't think Garcia carries the power up at welter and I think Thurman will be too big and wear down and stop Garcia late. Feel free to send me grief if I'm wrong!
